Minnesota's Largest Solar Power Systems as of 2012 was built on the top of IKEA directly across from the the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN. This Solar Power generator system nets IKEA 1 Megawatt of Power and held the Minnesota Solar Power record until 2013. In 2013 Ecos Energy in Slayton, MN just opened their 7000+ panel solar generating system and now produces 2 Megawatts of power. Compared to some really big Solar generating systems in California, MidAmerican Solar, a unit of Warren Buffett-led Berkshire Hathaway, announced it would purchase the world's largest planned solar development, with an output of 579 Megawatts, in southern California. NextEra Energy is planning a 250-megawatt concentrated solar project near Blythe, California. Could we see that large of a solar project in Minnesota? Time will tell.
